Travel Trekking Tips by Ex Officio
Preparing for Travel Trekking
When traveling, walking is often the best way to take in the scenery, experience the locals and save money. This sounds pretty easy but some of us need a little preparation to ensure that day two of our journey doesn't include aching muscles and sore feet.
Here are some tips to consider before packing your bags and seeing the world on foot.
Evaluate Your Fitness Level with Enough Time to Change It
There is a big difference between being able to walk a mile comfortably and being able to walk for an entire day on varied terrain. A month or two before your adventure take a good look at your itinerary and determine the approximate distance you might have to walk. This will give you an idea of how close you'll be to smile filled meandering versus excessive public panting.
Start Moving
Lift weights at the gym, walk after dinner or jog before work.
As long as you're moving, then you're preparing.
If you plan to travel while carrying gear, try and walk with a weighted down pack or bag.
You'll be giving yourself high fives for getting in shape before your trip.
The more you prepare the more you'll enjoy your experience.
