Horse Pens 40 is a world class, privately owned bouldering destination in Northern Alabama. Known for its one-of-a-kind high-friction slopers, Horse Pens 40 is the most popular bouldering area in the Eastern U.S. While playing host to three annual bouldering competitions, including the second leg of the Triple Crown Bouldering Series, the owners of the park estimate that boulderers account for over 10,000 user days per year. This guidebook, written by the primary developer of the bouldering at Horse Pens 40, Adam Henry, will be the first ever print guide to the area! Featuring loads of full-color action photographs, modern photo-topo style pictures of the boulders, and the coolest aerial maps you’ve ever seen, this guidebook is sure to be the new standard bearer of the genre.
Foreword by John Sherman. 20% of proceeds go to the Alabama Bouldering Fund.

Pros: The color pictures with routes traced out go far above and beyond the average guidebook. The hand-drawn maps are actually fairly accurate. Additionally, the pictures feature both local and nationally known climbers, so you're sure to see someone you know.
Other Thoughts: This is really the only guidebook available for bouldering at Horse Pens 40, Palisades Park, and Moss Rock Preserve, so it is a must-have for visiting and local boulderers alike.
